LEICA TCS SP8 STED
LEICA 在既有的共軛焦顯微鏡, 發展 STED 系統, 先後計有  STED, STED CW, gated STED ( gSTED ).

LEICA TCS SP8 STED 結合 gated STED 技術及螢光染劑, 光學解析可優於 50 nm, 可實現多色螢光的 STED 影像., 同時結合螢光實時間 ( Multi-color Fluorescence Lifetime ), 對活細胞微小胞器的活動, 胞內蛋白質的動態交互作用, 皆有大幅的助益.

活細胞的螢光標定及超解析螢光顯微鏡技術 ( Superresolution ) 是現代生物學研究重要的發展之一,透過這兩種技術的應用,可即時同步觀察活體細胞的活動,人類對於蛋白質功能和細胞生理的瞭解大幅地增長。然而,傳統的螢光顯微鏡,受限於阿貝理論的繞射障礙 (diffraction limitation) 其解析度始終 無法突破小於200nm。電子顯微鏡雖可解決解析度的屏障, 卻因為會破壞樣品, 無法應用在活體細胞. 近年來新發展出的STED顯微鏡突破了此一侷限,應用新的點擴散技術 (point-spread function),可產生比共軛焦影像更高的解析度,提升至 50 nm 以下提供了研究人員做更清晰細緻的單分子級的顯微影像觀察.
